Gloomy weather on the way for May long weekend

Weather-wise, the May long weekend isn't looking so good.

On Friday, the day starts with cloudy skies across southern Manitoba, and light northwest winds as Winnipeg's temperature sits at 6 C.

The sun is expected to come out in the afternoon with a high of 18 C.

A gloomy Saturday will follow: Not much sun is expected, and while the high again will reach 18 C, showers are expected to begin in the afternoon and last throughout the night.

Sunday could be a challenge for anyone who is going camping. Strong winds will gust up to 70 km/h and showers are expected here, too.

The high won't quite make double digits but could reach up to 9 C, and skies are expected to clear by Sunday evening.

But it's not all bad — warm temperatures are expected to come back by the middle of next week as the city moves into sunny weather once again.
