Goldie! Octavia! Mindy! See the Celebs Who Attended Kate Hudson’s “Glorious” Album Release Show in L.A.
“Music was my first love. It’s really a lifetime in the making,” Hudson recently told PEOPLE
Kate Hudson just dropped her debut album — and enlisted a star-studded group of friends to help her celebrate!
The singer and actress, 45, released her debut album, Glorious, on Friday, May 17. A day later on May 18, the Almost Famous star threw an album release show to commemorate the milestone, which was a long time coming for Hudson, who recently told PEOPLE music was her “first love.”
Many of Hudson’s famous friends and family were spotted arriving at The Bellwether in Los Angeles for the event, including Hudson's mom, Goldie Hawn, who arrived to support her daughter’s genre-blending project hand-in-hand with her longtime love, Kurt Russell.
Also photographed arriving at the event, where Hudson took the stage to perform, were some of Hudson’s fellow actresses, including Octavia Spencer and Mindy Kaling.
For the special concert, Spencer appeared business-casual, while Kaling went slightly edgier — and, fittingly, more rock star — in a leather jacket almost as long as the coats linked to Hudson’s forever iconic Almost Famous character, Penny Lane.
The music and acting worlds continued to collide on the guest list, as Leslie Odom Jr. and Justin Theroux also attended the show, both with their significant others — Odom’s wife, Nicolette Robinson, and Theroux’s girlfriend, Nicole Brydon Bloom.
Rounding out the star-studded guest list were Fergie and Brenda Song.
At the celebratory concert, Hudson serenaded her guests, and fully embraced her new rock-star status in a sheer, embroidered dress, which she wore over a bodysuit.

Speaking about her decision to finally pursue music, a longtime dream of hers, Hudson told PEOPLE that “it’s really a lifetime in the making.”
The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star also revealed that Glorious’s tracklist is informed by the wisdom she’s gained from growing up in a Hollywood dynasty (she was raised by Hawn and Russell), living with her heart on her sleeve and raising three kids of her own: sons Ryder, 20, and Bingham, 12, and daughter Rani, 5. It was also a collaborative effort with her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.
“I was like, ‘This is just a life well-loved,’ ” Hudson told PEOPLE of album. “Through all of the highs and the lows, then all the stuff that comes with what it is to love a partner, your friends, your children.”
And, nodding to the project’s name, she added: “What a glorious thing to have so much love.”
