Good Samaritan allegedly beaten, robbed after suspects ask for help

Mountie charged with improper storage of a firearm after police watchdog investigation

RCMP say a Good Samaritan was robbed and beaten after following two men who had asked for his help in Richmond, B.C. on Wednesday.

The victim told officers he was lured into an abandoned house in the 12000 block of Blundell Road just before noon, according to a statement. Once he was inside, the suspects allegedly robbed and assaulted him before driving off.

Const. Adriana Peralta said the victim was left with minor injuries.

RCMP said the pair was in an older, grey Ford pick-up with trees hanging out of the back.

The truck was later seen swerving into oncoming traffic on Williams Road and speeding northbound down the No. 4, before pulling over on Francis Road.

Peralta said the suspects abandoned the pick-up and ran off, jumping over fences as they went.

Both men are described as Caucasian, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and around 45 to 50 years old. One has a medium build and black hair, and was wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. The second suspect has a slimmer build and shaved head, and wore blue jeans and a black t-shirt.

Officials are asking businesses to review their surveillance footage from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. if they're in these areas:

- South of Blundell Road on Sidaway Road to Steveston Highway

- North of Williams Road to Blundell Road, between No. 4 Road and St. Albans Road.

Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 604 278-1212 or Crimestoppers to remain anonymous.
