‘Goosebumps’ promised at ‘Star Wars’ production in Modesto. More entertainment

Watch one of the most popular movies made while it’s shown on screen, but hear the score played live by the Modesto Symphony Orchestra. That program is just one of the entertainment options in the Modesto and Mother Lode regions May 27-June 2.

“Empire Strikes Back”

The Modesto Symphony Orchestra performs its production of “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert.” The complete film will be shown on screen with the Oscar-winning John Williams musical score performed live by the MSO.

“We are so excited to finish our season with Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert,” orchestra President and CEO Caroline Nickel said in a press release. “This is one of the most iconic film scores ever composed and we guarantee you’ll have goosebumps when you see the opening titles with the full force of an orchestra performing live.”

Principal Pops Conductor Ryan Murray will lead the Disney Concerts program at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Limited seats were available at press time.

Peddler’s Faire

The annual Arnold Peddler’s Faire returns for Memorial Day weekend with antiques, collectibles, art, crafts, food and more. The festival is held among the pines and redwoods and features more than 50 booths.

“Ready, Set, Show!”

The Carnegie Arts Center’s annual youth art exhibition “Ready, Set, Show!” returns to the Turlock venue. Artists age 5 to 18 from throughout the region present their works in the Carnegie’s Ferrari Gallery.

“The Wrecking Crew”

A celebration of the musical work of a group of session musicians is revisited in the film “The Wrecking Crew” at the State Theatre. The band provided backup instrumentals to recording artists including Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys and Bing Crosby. The 2008 movie is being screened in anticipation of “Immediate Family,” a follow-up that will screen at the State in June.
