Great British Baking Show star Matty Edgell was star baker on his big day, too!

On Wednesday, June 5, the Season 14 champ, 28, shared a selection of photos and videos on his Instagram that showed him decorating his three-tier wedding cake on the morning of his May 31 nuptials. Edgell tied the knot with Lara Lucienne, who entered him into the hit baking competition series in the first place.

"The brief was 'make it colorful' in fitting with the rest of the wedding," Edgell wrote in the caption. "Swipe along to see how I stacked the cake at the venue the morning of our wedding😅… and how it went down on the night!"

The white cake was covered in colorful flowers and decorated with smudges of orange, yellow, green and pink icing. The elegant looking dessert was completed with a topper that read "Lara & Matty."

In the videos, the baker is seen assembling the cake on a wooden platform at the venue. After getting the first tier down, he uses white icing to continue stacking the others. He then pipes icing between the layers to smooth the creases.

Edgell writes in the post that all three tiers were different flavors. The bottom tier was chocolate genoise with chocolate French buttercream and brownies, the middle tier — which he called his "personal favorite" — was olive oil and orange with whipped pistachio ganache and the top tier was lemon and rosemary with summer fruits jam.

All the tiers were covered in a Swiss meringue buttercream.

While answering questions in the comment section, Edgell revealed that he baked the cake three days in advance and "used a soak on the top and bottom sponges just to ensure they were moist when eaten."

Edgell's wedding cake resembled the cake he made in the cooking competition finale, which earned him the winning title. However, that previous cake featured more intricate piping, fruit and edible gold.

Earlier this month, the home baker and teacher tied the knot with Lucienne. He announced the news on Instagram, sharing a series of photos from the couple's countryside nuptials at South Farm in Hertfordshire, England.

"Signed, sealed and delivered 💍 she can’t turn back now!" Edgell joked in the caption of the post. "We had the best time celebrating our special day with the people we love the most. Thank you so much to everyone who came, you made our day what it was 🎉."

Upon winning the baking competition last December, he shared a sweet story behind how his now-wife signed him up for the show. "Without you I wouldn’t have been able to do any of it (literally, Lara, I now thank you for applying for me 😂) ❤️," he wrote on Instagram after his win.

"He would never have applied for himself," Lara said in the finale episode. "It's just not in his nature. He's not braggy. I wanted him to be a part of something like this to show to him how amazing he is. Because doesn't matter how much I tell him, he doesn't believe me."
