Guy Fieri Weighed In On The Hot Vs. Cold Lobster Roll Debate & His Answer Is... Conflicting

Guy Fieri is settling a controversial food debate, and given his role as the Mayor of Flavortown, his ruling is final. During a recent sit-down with podcast host Kevin Cooney, the celeb chef explained the proper way to prepare a lobster roll—and it might not be what you think.

"I'm gonna ask you the hard-hitting question. Hot or cold lobster roll?" Cooney asks. Immediately, Fieri looks conflicted.

"Swear to god, there’s a right answer or I can piss off everybody with it. As a chef, I have one answer but as a fan of lobster rolls I have another answer," Fieri explains.

As for his personal preference, the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives star is a fan of Maine-style—but with a twist.

"It's gotta be just past cold, moving into warm. Not warm, but not hot," Fieri clarifies. "It’s flirting with [warm]. You’ve got allow it to open up. You’ve gotta allow that lobster roll to be alive. If it’s too cold, you’re just eating cold shrimp."

But once he puts on that chef hat? The answer changes to hot, a.k.a the Connecticut-style lobster roll.

Fans were quick to chime in with their own thoughts on the subject. "Hear me out… warm buttered lobster roll topped with copious amounts of lemon aioli. Basically a mix between the two styles," one user wrote, while another suggested, "brown butter lobster roll on the steam bun."

Others were quick to agree with Fieri. "I’m with Guy, almost room temperature," one person wrote. "Too cold of a lobster roll may as well be imitation crab. I said what I said!!!! Warm or gtfo," a second person chimed in.

While Guy Fieri has made it very clear he eats what he wants—including almost warm, but not warm lobster rolls—he still managed to shed an impressive 30 pounds in the last few years by following intermittent fasting and focusing on portion control.

"I still eat what I want to eat. But I just don’t eat as much of it," he told Men's Health earlier this month, while also explaining that includes shoot days. He takes just a couple bites of each dish on camera and then skips dinner afterward.
