Have We Just Solved The Mystery Of The Bermuda Triangle?

For decades, sailors feared the Bermuda Triangle - known for a series of mysterious incidents such as the sinking of a Navy cargo ship in 1918.

Paranormal enthusiasts claim that the area is cursed.

But scientists now believe that they may have an explanation for the sinkings in the area - and it doesn’t have anything to do with ‘time portals’ or Atlantis.

Norwegian scientists found a series of craters on the seabed near Norway, which they believe were created by bubbles of methane ‘popping’ under the sea bed.

They are now investigating whether the bursting of such huge bubbles would be sufficient to sink ships.

Some experts suggest that such ‘blowouts’ might be behind the Bermuda Triangle mystery.

Researchers from the Arctic University of Norway told the Sunday Times: ‘Multiple giant craters exist on the sea floor in an area in the west-central Barents Sea … and are probably a cause of enormous blowouts of gas.

‘The crater area is likely to represent one of the largest hotspots for shallow marine methane release in the Arctic.’
