Highway 105 in Cape Breton reopens after pedestrian hit by car

Drivers are allowed back on Highway 105 in Cape Breton after a crash sent a woman to hospital with skull fractures Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Cape Breton RCMP say a 75-year-old woman was walking along the Trans-Canada Highway near South Haven when she was hit.

The driver of the car, a 55-year-old woman from Glace Bay, was not hurt.

She faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and failure to stop or remain at the scene of an accident.

The highway was closed Sunday afternoon for the investigation, but police began allowing traffic through around 9:30 p.m.

The driver has since been released and will appear in Baddeck Provincial Court in May.
