Hoda Kotb reacts to people shipping her and Kevin Costner as a couple: 'If the viewers want it'

The journalist maintains there was "no flirting" during the pair's interview last month, but fans thought otherwise.

Hoda Kotb is shocked that people believe she and Kevin Costner should be Hollywood's newest couple after their recent Today interview.

A fan asked the television anchor to share her thoughts on #Kotner (or #Costb?) while visiting Watch What Happens Live with Savannah Guthrie on Tuesday. “How do you feel about viewers ‘shipping’ you and Kevin Costner after he appeared on Today last month?” the fan asked. “And have the two of you connected since?”

Kotb turned to host Andy Cohen, who clarified, “The viewers want the two of you together.”

To say the question took her by surprise was an understatement. “Wait, what?” she replied. "I have never heard that, not one time."

Guthrie, on the other hand, was very on board with the idea, asking, “Well, you heard it now, you up to it?” Kotb, flashing a quick grin at the camera, responded, “Well, if the viewers want it.”

Her costar Jenna Bush Hager also voiced support for the potential connection during Wednesday’s episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna.

“I didn’t know you and Kevin were shipping! I didn’t even know what ‘shipping’ meant,” she exclaimed. "I actually did know because people were coming up to me on the street, and people were like, 'You should set up Hoda and Kevin Costner.’ And I was like, ‘Wow, I didn’t realize they were flirting behind my back.'"

Kotb maintained that there was “no flirting” with Costner during their June interview, but then footage cut to a hilarious edit of their interview that was slowed down and featured sultry music.

“Y’all are ridiculous,” Kotb said through her laughter.
