Holiday book fair celebrates Quebec's anglophone authors

Get some Christmas shopping done at a pop-up book fair at Atwater Library this Saturday, where books by Quebec's anglophone authors are being showcased.

The name 'Holiday Pop-Up Book Fair' may be deceiving to some — it is not a book fair selling only pop-up books. Rather, it's a two-day sale celebrating the authors and publishers of English Quebec.

Elise Moser is an author and a co-organizer of the fair.

"We decided to go for some activities to highlight some aspects of English Quebec literary culture that don't always get as much attention," she said.

"We were trying to think of how we can bring people's attention to what is actually a very lively, local publishing culture in English."

The fair is a joint effort between the Association of English-Language Publishers of Quebec and the Atwater Writers Exhibition.

The fair launched on Friday night and Saturday will feature day-long meet-and-greets with the faces behind the books.

Atwater Library, 1200 Atwater Avenue. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
