Homicide team investigates North Vancouver remains
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case of a body found in a wooded area in North Vancouver.
Police say the cause of death has not been determined but it does appear to be "suspicious in nature."
Further testing will be required to determine how long the remains have been there, as well as the gender and identity of the victim.
"There are many unanswered questions in these early stages and much of the details of the findings can’t be released at this time as we are pursuing this as a homicide investigation," said Sgt. Jennifer Pound.
The body was found just before 6 p.m. PT Saturday off a gravel foot trail near the 2000 block of Curling Road, off Capilano Road.
The area is a known hang-out for drug users but Pound said police don't believe it's an overdose because there is evidence someone tried to conceal the body.
Investigators will continue to canvass the neighbourhood Monday, and it’s expected the investigation at the scene could take several days.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is asking anyone who may have information to come forward.
