Simeon Wilcher, a top 15 prospect in the class of 2023, committed to North Carolina on Friday night according to his Twitter account. Wilcher, a 6-foot-4 guard from New Jersey, is the Tar Heels’ first commit for the class.
Wilcher reportedly had a six-figure offer to join the upstart Overtime Elite league, but turned it down to commit to the Heels.
The junior at Roselle Catholic just made his official visit to Carolina over last weekend. He is No. 14 in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

UNC coach Hubert Davis talked about the changes he’s made while serving nine seasons as an assistant coach under Roy Williams. One of them was playing two point guards in the same lineup.
Wilcher is a combo guard who could be asked to play some point at UNC, especially if sophomore Caleb Love leaves for the NBA after this season.
