Human remains found along Riverwalk in Columbus, Muscogee County coroner says

Human remains have been found along the Riverwalk in Columbus, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, and police are investigating.

Bryan said a mandible was recovered Wednesday along the shoreline. A mandible is a jaw or jawbone.

The mandible was missing most of its teeth, but it did have two teeth and an incoming wisdom tooth coming in on the left side. There was also one tooth located on the right side, the coroner said.

The Columbus Police Department said the remains would be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Decatur for analysis. CPD also confirmed it was investigating.
