Impaired driving charges laid near Thunder Bay

A 29-year-old Thunder Bay man was charged with impaired driving early Sunday after a pickup truck collided with another vehicle on the city's outskirts. Provincial police said officers encountered the accused on Highway 61 around 1:15 a.m. No injuries were reported. Police claim the accused was driving the pickup truck. In addition to the impaired-driving offence, Ryan Manduca was charged with operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol reading of more than 80 milligrams, a provincial news release said. Manduca is to appear in Thunder Bay court on June 7, the news release. Also on Sunday, provincial police arrested a 39-year-old Regina, Sask. woman after a vehicle travelling near Thunder Bay on Highway 17 around 4 p.m. was spotted committing an alleged "traffic violation." The accused woman was charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol reading of more than 80 milligrams, the provincial news release said. She has been released from custody and is to appear in Thunder Bay court on June 14, the release said. None of the charges against either accused have been proven in court.
