Ivanka Trump offers up blandest statement possible about Donald Trump’s indictment
Ivanka Trump officially broke her silence on Donald Trump's indictment — but it wasn't a long statement.
The former first daughter wrote in an Instagram story that she was "pained" for her father and country.
Ivanka reportedly ceased advising Trump and kept her distance throughout the investigation.
Ivanka Trump has officially broken her silence on her father's indictment — and the statement is about as bland as possible.
The former first daughter took to an Instagram story on Friday morning, sharing a meager 27-word response to Donald Trump's indictment by a Manhattan grand jury — the first time a former president has faced criminal charges.
In the post, Ivanka says she is "pained" for both her father and country, adding: "I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern."
On Thursday, Manhattan's district attorney and Donald Trump's lawyer confirmed that a grand jury had indicted the former president. The grand jury had been hearing evidence on whether Trump was linked to alleged hush-money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels using his company's money.
Ivanka Trump's short statement shouldn't necessarily come as a surprise.
People magazine reported that Ivanka was keeping her distance from her father and his campaign. Sources told the magazine that Ivanka wasn't going to advise her father legally or politically because she knows "how impossible he can be."
Ivanka is also reportedly "through with politics" after advising her father during his presidency.
