Talk show host and actor James Corden pushed his body to the limits when he welcomed ex-England footballer David Beckham onto The Late Late Show.

The Gavin & Stacey star was filmed joining Beckham in a series of high-intensity workout exercises, which included a boxing match.

In the sketch, which was filmed before coronavirus lockdown began, Beckham leads Corden in an indoor cycling session.

“I feel like every time I talk to you, you’re either on your way to a spin class or you’ve just left a spin class,” Corden quips.

“You’re the owner of Inter Miami now, you don’t need to be doing all this exercise, you can just get fat,” he adds.

After tiring himself out, Corden takes the reins, and leads the former Manchester United ace on a routine set to Spice Girls song “Wannabe”, as sung by Beckham’s wife, Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham.

Corden and Beckham then strap on boxing gear, undertaking a few drills before sparring with each other. The full clip can be watched here.

Last year, Beckham was the victim of an elaborate prank orchestrated by Corden, as the British sports icon was made to believe that a shoddily made and unflattering statue of himself was set to be erected outside LA Galaxy’s stadium.

The footballer’s reaction to the fake statue’s unveiling was featured on Corden’s TV programme, and became a viral hit.
