"I’m in fighting shape right now," Lopez said of the Bill Condon-directed musical, which follows William Hurt and Sonia Braga's Oscar-winning 1985 adaptation.

Jennifer Lopez says she's "in fighting shape" after confronting what might've been one of the most challenging roles of her career in director Bill Condon's upcoming musical film adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman.

When Live cohost Kelly Ripa asked Lopez Friday about preparing for the pop icon's greatest hits tour that's set to hit the road this summer, the 54-year-old confirmed that she's already exhausted from thinking about rehearsals for the smaller "baby tour," as she called it, after finishing production on the new project.

“I just finished a movie called Kiss of the Spider Woman, where it was all singing and dancing, which was equal parts exhilarating and exhausting as well," Lopez said. "Now, I’m ready to go. I’m the thinnest I’ve ever been. I’m in fighting shape right now."

Kiss of the Spider Woman marks the latest in a long line of projects based on Manuel Puig's 1976 novel of the same name, which follows an intimate discussion between two prisoners who bond over fantasies of movies based on one of their complicated lives.

Lopez received standout praise and significant awards attention for her performance in 2019's Hustlers, which many predicted would land the actress her first Oscar nomination after the performance scored nods at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Though the Academy didn't follow suit, Lopez's industry peers — including Tyler Perry — spoke out against the perceived infraction, with Perry admitting that he was "upset" over the development.

Kiss of the Spider Woman — also starring Diego Luna — does not yet have an announced release date.
