Jerome Tang finalizes K-State basketball roster with addition of transfer Will McNair

The Kansas State men’s basketball team will have a full complement of scholarship players next season.

Coach Jerome Tang finalized his roster on Friday when well-traveled transfer Will McNair committed to the Wildcats.

His addition gives K-State 13 scholarship players after it was beginning to look like the Wildcats were going to be one man down. For the second straight year, Tang found some players worthy of adding late in the recruiting cycle.

McNair will help K-State in the front court. He is a 6-foot-11 and 265-pound forward who averaged 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds last season while playing in 34 games Mississippi State. Before that, he spent three seasons at New Mexico State and had a strong junior season with the Aggies, averaging 6.6 points and 4.9 rebounds.

Believe it or not, though, he will actually transfer to K-State via Providence.

McNair decided to play for the Friars a few months ago and accompanied them on a foreign tour through Spain earlier this summer. But he decided he wanted to finish his college career elsewhere and landed with the Wildcats as a graduate transfer.

It’s hard to say how much of an impact McNair will make during his one season at K-State, but he will bring a considerable amount of college basketball experience with him to Manhattan. McNair has played in 116 career games with 29 starts.
