Jim Gaffigan has a new fan!

In an Instagram post on Friday, June 14, the comedian, 57, shared several incredible pictures and videos from his morning spent with Pope Francis. Gaffigan brought his wife Jeannie and his two younger sons Michael, 12 and Patrick, 11, to meet the bishop, who addressed "a room of 200 comedians from throughout the world" at the Vatican's Apostolic Palace.

The kids and their parents can be seen shaking the Pope’s hand and smiling together in the church, along with many renowned comedians and talk show hosts including Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Whoopi Goldberg.

“The Pope told me I was his favorite comedian. Such an incredible experience,” Gaffigan wrote in the caption.

“This followed the Pope addressing a room of 200 comedians from throughout the world. It felt like a meeting of everyone who couldn’t behave in church. Thanks to @ragandbone for the fancy suit, shirt and shoes!”

In other photos, the kids posed with the Vatican's Swiss guard, and then almost accidentally ran off into a restricted area of the church.

"Michael! You're not allowed down there," Gaffigan can be heard off-camera telling his son in a video as they walk down a long corridor.

"That's restricted, off-duty," Jeannie adds.

In addition to Micheal and Patrick, the couple shares daughters Marre, 20, and  Katie, 15, and son Jack, 18.

“I have five because I’m secretly starting my own nationality,” Gaffigan joked with PEOPLE in 2016. He added that each of his kids “has made me a more decent person and a better person, and based on that, all I would need is 34 more to be a decent guy.”

Jokes aside, it’s “fun chaos” for Gaffigan. “I come from a big family and my wife comes from a big family,” he said. “I think there’s a lot of value in sibling chaos. But it’s a lot of organizing, it’s like a circus.”
