JK Rowling has announced the launch of a new online Harry Potter project to bring "magical treats" to keep children and parents occupied during lockdown.

This week the Harry Potter author unveiled Harry Potter At Home, which is a hub which will feature a host of resources and fun activities.

She tweeted on Wednesday: "Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we're on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I'm delighted to launch harrypotterathome.com."

According to the site's description, it will feature "special contributions from Bloomsbury and Scholastic, nifty magical craft videos (teach your friends how to draw a Niffler!), fun articles, quizzes, puzzles and plenty more for first-time readers, as well as those already familiar with the wizarding world. We're casting a Banishing Charm on boredom!"

It continues: "For over 20 years now, Hogwarts has been an escape for all - for readers and fans, young and old. During the strange times we now find ourselves in, we want to welcome you back to Hogwarts, where you will find a friendly retreat for you and your family".

The site, which you need to create an account for if you don't have a Pottermore login already, includes news from Wizarding World team, quizzes and a J.K. Rowling archive where you can "explore the inner workings of the wizarding world with a collection of writing from J.K. Rowling."

Harry Potter fans can also pass the time by taking a virtual ride through the Hogwarts castle from the comfort of your sofa.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is the must-experience ride inside of Hogwarts castle at Universal Studios in America. A video from UndercoverTourist.com takes you through the entire experience – even waiting in the queue, which is arguably one of the best parts.

That's us sorted for a while then!
