Kamala Nehru — the wife of independent India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and mother of India’s first woman prime minister, Indira Gandhi — held her own ground and contributed in her own way towards the independence of India.

Breaking stereotypes, Kamala Nehru joined the Indian independence movement and rose as a prominent figure in the non-cooperation movement. Some believe that it was Kamala Nehru who influenced her husband to join the freedom movement.

She is the leading woman behind the innumerous tales of courage and perseverance that made her an extraordinary woman who must not be forgotten. Watch the video to know more about her contribution in India’s struggle for freedom.
