Kamari Johnson: Hayes stabbing victim, 16, named as boy arrested on suspicion of murder
Police have named the 16-year-old boy fatally stabbed in west London on Friday as they made an arrest over his murder.
Kamari Johnson, 16, was fatally stabbed on Hayes’ Bourne Avenue at around 1.30pm, and despite the efforts of officers and medics, his life could not be saved.
On Saturday, homicide detectives said they had arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of Kamari’s murder. He remains in custody.
Met Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila said: “Kamari’s murder has understandably caused shock and concern amongst the local community.
“A team of experienced detectives is working tirelessly to establish what happened to Kamari and why he was attacked. This evening’s arrest demonstrates the progress we are making and this is in no small part to the assistance we’ve had from the community.
“We need to work together to ensure Kamari’s family get the answers they deserve about what happened to him.”
DCI Gammampila urged people not to speculate about the stabbing but to speak to police if they have information.
“I’m particularly keen to hear from any residents who may have captured footage on doorbell or dashcam devices – please check your cameras to see if there is anything relevant on them and, if so, get in contact,” the officer said.
A crime scene was in place near Hayes & Harlington station and the nearby Asda superstore as police responded to the scene.
