Kanye West for president? Charlotte rapper DaBaby says he’ll be ‘voting for Ye’

Kanye West has another influential vote in his bid to become president: Charlotte rapper DaBaby.

DaBaby tweeted Wednesday morning that his vote won’t be going to President Donald Trump or former Vice President Joe Biden, but rather the controversial rapper.

“Ima let y’all finish,” DaBaby began his tweet, channeling West when he interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 Video Music Awards. “But you got me f’ed up (if) you think I ain’t voting for Ye.

He also retweeted a couple of vague West tweets from early Wednesday morning.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Chance the Rapper are among the other high-profile celebrities who have endorsed West.

Many of DaBaby’s fans were not thrilled about his sudden endorsement.

“Please don’t use (your) platform for this,” one woman tweeted. ”This is literally life and death for minorities right now. We cant afford to have people following u and doing this. Please.”

“Baby you got too big of a platform to be tweeting this nonsense,” another person responded.

A new Politico/Morning Consult poll shows West is polling at 2% overall with just 2% of the Black vote. Republican operatives including Lane Ruhland, who has represented the Trump campaign in court, have worked to get West on ballots, leading some to label the rapper as a spoiler candidate aiming to take votes away from Biden.

In an exclusive interview with Forbes, West said he’s “not denying” that his candidacy could siphon votes away from the Democratic nominee for president. “Trump is the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation,” he said.

West later tweeted that “THE GOAL IS TO WIN.”

Speaking about his rise in the hip-hop world last year to Billboard, DaBaby compared himself to West.

“Being that once-in-a-generation, once-in-a-lifetime, once-in-an-era type of star. Like I got the creativity of a Kanye West, the consistency of a Lil Wayne, the versatility of a Drake to make male and female songs. I’m still about whatever, like a Lil Boosie or a Gucci Mane. I’m God’s work, bro,” he told Billboard.
