Kate Hudson Wishes 'Pa' Kurt Russell a Happy Birthday on St. Patrick's Day: 'We Love You'
The actor turned 73 on Sunday
Kate Hudson got lucky in the parents department — and she knows it.
The actress' stepdad, Kurt Russell, turned 73 on Sunday and Hudson, 44, celebrated her "pa" with a cute post on her Instagram Story.
“Love you pa! St Patrick’s Day is always the best because we get to celebrate you,” she wrote over the throwback photo of her and her Russell.
“Happy birthday pa! We love you," she wrote in green lettering in honor of the holiday.

Though Russell is not technically Hudson's father — her mother, Goldie Hawn, welcomed Hudson with her first husband, Bill Hudson — the actress has long been estranged from Bill, and has a tight relationship with Russell. Her brother, Oliver Hudson, similarly shares a close bond with the actor, who has been with Hawn since 1983, despite never getting married.
Kate told PEOPLE that her mother, 78, and Russell “complement each other so well."
“Mom is kinetic and she is a butterfly, and Pa likes his family and his home. But when they’re together, it’s so powerful."

In January, the siblings reflected on some hilarious moments from their childhood with Russell during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“He always finds himself in some sort of scenario,” Kate said of Russell.
"Actually, he was on camera when O.J. Simpson drove into his house,” Oliver said of the aftermath of O.J. Simpson’s famous police chase in 1994. “He was in the driveway. You could see him on, like, KTLA, like, ‘huh?’ my dad. I was like, ‘What is he doing there?’ ”
Kate explained: “We were at a friend’s house watching the NBA finals, who lived right down the street from O.J. Simpson at the time, and it was the big chase. And … O.J. was on the 405 [freeway] and Kurt all of sudden just went, ‘Oh, he’s going home.’ ”
"Literally, we’re watching the news because we’re watching the NBA finals, it was interrupted — and we saw our dad, like, on television," the actress recalled.

On Russell's birthday last year, Hawn shared a silly tribute to her longtime love on Instagram. "Happy birthday to the wacky man in my life!" she captioned a photo where he was laughing while she looked sideways at him. "I love you baby ❤️."
