Kate Middleton has remained out of the public eye as she continues to receive treatment for cancer, but there is a small chance royal observers may see her at an event this summer.

Royal expert Gareth Russell told Us Weekly that it is possible Middleton may be well enough to go to Trooping the Colour in June, but “that could change at a moment’s notice.” If the Princess of Wales is able to pull through, it would be a delight to fans of hers in England. “The nation is gunning for Kate to get better,” royal expert Tessa Dunlop added. “The monarchy needs her.”

This isn't the first report of Middleton's possible attendance at Trooping the Colour 2024. Before the royal revealed her cancer diagnosis in March, England's Ministry of Defense reported that she was scheduled to be present at this year's Trooping the Colour ceremonyPeople later reported that Kensington Palace wasn't consulted about her appearance at the June 8 Trooping the Colour event — which honors King Charles' birthday — and as a result, Middleton's name was removed from the event's official website.

Following Middleton's cancer reveal on March 22, a palace spokesperson explained that she will return to the public eye and perform royal duties once she is in better health. "The Princess will return to official duties when she is cleared to do so by her medical team. She is in good spirits and is focused on making a full recovery."

At the time, Prince William was reported to continue shouldering the load of her engagements while looking after Middleton. The spokesperson added, "The Prince will continue to balance supporting his wife and family and maintaining his official duties as he has done since the start of the year." As of April, both statements remain true — Middleton has remained out of the public eye as she recovers, and William is still performing his royal duties, most recently spending the day with a charity whose mission it is to prevent food insecurity.
