Kate Middleton and Prince William have had a trusted photographer to capture some of their milestone moments over the years, including their royal wedding.

To mark their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a never-before-seen image from their nuptials. The new photo showed the newlyweds in a black-and-white snap taken at Buckingham Palace after their fairytale ceremony at Westminster Abbey, captured by Millie Pilkington.

Pilkington wrote on Instagram, "Wishing the @princeandprincessofwales the very happiest wedding anniversary. Can’t believe it is 13 years ago almost to the hour, that I took this portrait. So excited and honored that they should wish to share it."

Prince William and Kate were "buzzing with happiness" at their wedding, Pilkington said shortly after the nuptials, according to The Guardian.

Hugo Burnand, who also got behind the camera for King Charles and Queen Camilla's coronation pictures last year, snapped the official wedding portraits for Prince William and Kate. However, Pilkington was tapped as the couple's private photographer on their big day — and only a couple of her behind-the-scenes snaps have been seen by the public.

Pilkington was spotted on the wedding day with her camera in tow as Kate was making her way into a car.

The portrait photographer has been behind several images of the royal family recently.

When Buckingham Palace released a new health update about King Charles on April 26, revealing that he would be returning to public duties as he undergoes cancer treatment, they shared a new portrait of the King and Queen Camilla to celebrate the upcoming first anniversary of the coronation, marking the first portrait of the monarch taken by Pilkington to be released to the public.

She wrote on Instagram, "Feeling truly honored to have been asked to take this portrait of Their Majesties the King and Queen earlier this month in Buckingham Palace Gardens. And delighted that His Majesty the King is recovering so well."

Princess Kate, 42, and Prince William, 41, have also used Pilkington for several family photos in recent years, including documenting milestones for their children: Prince GeorgePrincess Charlotte and Prince Louis. In 2023, she captured the official portraits for all three kids' birthdays as well as images of Prince William with his sons and daughter that were released to mark Father's Day.

Of the Father's Day photo, the photographer said on her website, "I love how this portrait captures the love the children have for their father Prince William. With Prince Louis hugging his father’s neck in true joy, whilst Princess Charlotte and Prince George, with their hands on Prince William’s knees, and laughing adoringly up at him, you can see the adoration they have for their father and the fun they have with him."

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ 13th wedding anniversary comes shortly after William resumed public duties for the first time since his wife revealed that she is undergoing treatment for cancer. Kate publicly shared her health news in a self-written speech released on March 22, explaining that post-operative tests following her abdominal surgery in January "found cancer had been present."

Prince William cleared his work calendar to be by his wife’s side for several weeks following her announcement. He stepped out for his first public engagement after their children returned to the classroom following a school break surrounding Easter.

"He is a very reliable, strong person. She doesn’t feel isolated in this because of William, who is right beside her," the friend says.
