King Charles Is "Delighted" That Kate Middleton Will Be at Trooping the Colour This Year
Kate Middleton plans to be in attendance at Trooping the Colour tomorrow, Kensington Palace announced this afternoon. She will be joined by her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis in a carriage, and is expected to make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside King Charles and the rest of the royal family.
While Kensington Palace does not comment on private conversations, they did confirm Kate spoke to King Charles about her attendance at Trooping tomorrow. Shortly after the news was made public, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said, "His Majesty is delighted that The Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day."
It's an unusually tough time for the British royal family in terms of health: both the Princess of Wales and King Charles are currently undergoing cancer treatment. After Kate shared news of her diagnosis in March, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said the King is "so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did." And in January, when the two royals were both patients at the London Clinic at the same time, Charles went to visit Kate. Following their time in the hospital together, the King "remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks," per the Palace.
In her letter today, Kate wrote, "I'm looking forward to attending The King's Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet."
