Kings fans share nervous excitement as ‘thrilling’ series vs. Warriors goes to Game 6

With their team facing elimination, some Kings fans are understandably nervous Friday as Game 6 vs. the Golden State Warriors gets underway in San Francisco.

Warriors fans may have some jitters, even as they expect big closeout performances from stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Many neutral fans are delighted, though, as arguably the most entertaining matchup from the first round of this year’s NBA playoffs resumes. The defending champion Warriors have won three straight to take the 3-2 series lead over the Kings, but every game except the 114-97 rout by the Warriors in Game 3 has been a tight one.

“It has been maybe the most exciting and unpredictable first round of the playoffs in NBA history, and this series right there with it,” ESPN play-by-play commentator Mike Breen said pregame. “It has been a thrilling series.”

It’ll be an action-packed night across sports. Game 6 of the Lakers-Grizzlies series will immediately follow Kings-Warriors. Eight NHL teams are taking the ice for Game 6 in four first-round series in the Stanley Cup playoffs; all the while, the NFL draft is rolling along with its second and third rounds.

The Los Angeles Lakers lead the Memphis Grizzlies 3-2. The winner of that series will take on the Kings or Warriors in the second round.

The Kings and Warriors are taking the court at San Francisco’s Chase Center at 5 p.m. in a game televised on ESPN.
