Kristopher Guenther confessed to murder, victim's mother testifies

A tape was released publicly Friday of a 911 call made by a Calgary mother after her daughter was killed.

The phone call was played in a Calgary courtroom as Shelley Jones testified in the murder trial of Kristopher Guenther.

He is accused of strangling his former fiancée Lacey Jones McKnight and driving around with her body in his car shortly before a suicide attempt.

Jones told the emergency operator that Guenther showed up at her house that night to tell her that he had killed her daughter before handing her a knife.

"He gave it to me and told me to stab him, and then he took it away from me," Jones tells the 911 operator through her tears.

She identifies the man as her daughter's ex-boyfriend to the dispatcher. Today was the first time Jones had seen Guenther since that night.

The trial is expected to last at least another week.
