KU Jayhawks forward Hunter Dickinson earns national honor ahead of NCAA tourney

University of Kansas men’s basketball forward Hunter Dickinson was named to the All-America second team by the Associated Press on Tuesday.

KU forward Kevin McCullar earned honorable mention.

Earlier this month, Dickinson also made The Sporting News’ All-America second team. He’s scoring an average of 18 points and pulling down 10.8 rebounds per game — the only Big 12 player to average a double-double this season.

Dickinson is joined on the AP second team by Tyler Kolek (Marquette), DaRon Holmes II (Dayton), Kyle Filipowski (Duke) and Mark Sears (Alabama)

The AP’s first team consists of Zach Edey (Purdue), Dalton Knecht (Tennessee), RJ Davis (UNC), Tristen Newton (UConn) and Jamal Shead (Houston).

Seeded No. 4 in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Tournament, KU is preparing for a first-round matchup against No. 13 seed Samford. That game is Thursday evening in Salt Lake City.
