Law and Order: SVU fans have a bone to pick with the show and its decision to part ways with actress Kelli Giddish.

On September 22, she reminded folks to tune into the crossover premiere event for Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU and Law and Order: Organized Crime. Her Instagram post came about a month after she announced that she would be leaving the NBC drama after Law and Order: SVU concludes its season 24 later this spring. Kelli played Detective Amanda Rollins for 12 years, and the news was difficult for many to digest including co-star Mariska Hargitay, who reportedly tried to push back on it.

Despite her upcoming departure from the show, Kelli seemed in high spirits when she helped promote the Law and Order franchise returning to Thursday nights. “Tonight's the night!” she captioned a bus ad for the major TV event.

Unsurprisingly, many viewers headed over to her Instagram comments section to share their excitement, but one note stood out from the rest. “Can we get a DUN-DUN?” wrote the official Instagram account for the Law and Order shows.

Although the reference about the theme song is usually met with laughter, it was different this time. Upon seeing the show make an appearance in Kelli’s comments, fans immediately began posting passionate responses.

“No, you can't, but you can bring her back!!! 😡,” one person wrote. “You ain’t getting nothing! You’re taking her away from us 😡😡,” another added. “I don't think you actually understood how insulting this comment is 🤦♀️,” a different fan said.

What’s more, some gave real-time feedback about how Kelli’s character was going to be written off. “Nope. Rehire her instead of shooting her like you did tonight. 😟,” a follower commented about the latest SVU episode.

According to Variety, the actress didn’t make the decision to leave. Instead, it was “a call made from above” to “keep the show as up to date and current as possible.”

Whether this means introducing new detectives is unknown at this current time. But by the sounds of it, Law and Order: SVU fans won’t be forgetting about Kelli or Rollins anytime soon.
