'Law and Order: SVU' Fans Are "Crying" After Benson-Stabler Romantic Drama Is Teased

Law and Order: SVU fans, it's officially happening. After years of teasing an underlying romantic tension between Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), fans will finally see them address their feelings for one another.
During a recent Q&A on social media, the NBC show's executive producer Julie Martin teased this surprising detail to her Twitter followers. When a fan asked about whether Benson will eventually open up to someone about being in love with her former work partner, Julia confirmed that she will very soon.
"She will talk to Rollins [Kelli Giddish] about her feelings for Stabler in episode 9, [December] 8th," she tweeted on November 21.

Talk about a plot twist fans never saw coming! Coupled with the fact that folks have wanted the two to become a couple since Law and Order: SVU premiered more than two decades ago in 1999, it was only natural they would react to Julie's shocking disclosure.
"If it's true.... I'm already crying! It will be a dream come true to see Olivia Benson saying she has loved Elliot for years. ❤️😭," one person wrote on Twitter. "Finally, we're going to watch Olivia really talk about her feelings for him and not defend herself from people who think they know how she does or should feel because they don't like him? Wow," another commented. "Am I going to be happy or sad? Laugh or cry? Omg this episode needs to hurry up and get here!!" a different follower added.
Now, it's important to note that Julie confirmed this confession will take place during the NBC series' holiday episode, which will also mark Kelli's final appearance on SVU. As folks know from the December 8 promo, Amanda Robbins will seemingly get married to Sonny Carisi (Peter Scanavino) in a New York City courthouse. With all the romantic feelings in the air, maybe this will cause Benson to properly acknowledge her deep-rooted love for Stabler ... and not just as a friend.
In addition, Julie's trajectory for Benson comes right after a pivotal moment for Stabler on Law and Order: Organized Crime. During the November 18 episode, fans learned he drunkenly told his work partner Tia Leonetti (Ayelet Zurer) how he's in love with someone, without revealing exactly who it was. "You said there’s a woman you’re in love with," Tia said to which he replies, "I did?"
From the way things are being set up, fans are bound to get a conversation that has been years in the making.
