Lily Gladstone Compares The Golden Globes To ‘Squid Game’
Lily Gladstone won her first Golden Globe earlier this year for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon.
In a recent interview, the actress compared the event to the Squid Game.

“The meeting people is the fun part of it,” Gladstone said on The Kelly Clarkson Show recently after the show’s host asked her if she enjoyed award shows. “I describe the Globes as a little bit of the Squid Game.”
She continued, “The reality is, you’re in shapewear, you need to pee, you have commercial breaks, and that’s the only time that you’re able to do it. So it’s just a mad scramble, and then that’s the time when you get to jam and meet idols like Meryl Streep. But of course, that part is not that bad.”
Squid Game is a South Korean Netflix series that revolves around people in financial hardship who risk their lives playing a series of deadly children’s games for an opportunity to become a billionaire.
Gladstone had a long award show season after starring in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. The Native American actress played Mollie Burkhart, the wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart.
In addition to the Golden Globe award, Gladstone won the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in the film. Gladstone made history when she became the first Native Actress of American descent to be nominated for an Oscar.
Following her Oscar nomination, Gladstone questioned why it had taken so long, telling Deadline in an interview, “Why am I the first? Why did it have to take this long for me to be the first Indigenous North American? Most of the films that show up in these categories are shot on Indigenous land in North America, and it’s taken this long.”
