The CEO of a data security company is parting with one of the earliest homes built in the coveted Northern California coastal community of Carmel Highlands.

Paul Mountford, chief executive officer of Protegrity, listed the historic and charming home for $7.95 million just over three weeks ago. The Spanish-style residence overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Monterey County already has a contingent offer, according to realtor.com

Appropriately known as Stonewater, the home was originally constructed in 1919 and maintains its early character yet is completely contemporary inside. The ocean views from the main home are stunning.

“Captivating views of Wildcat Cove can be seen throughout the property, with multiple sets of nano doors that embrace indoor-outdoor living, all while capturing dramatic views of the ocean,” the property listing states.

Listed as five bedrooms and five bathrooms, the residence spans 3,653 square feet.

Stonewater also features a small vineyard and stone paths through its gardens, as well as multiple outdoor fireplaces.

There’s a private, one-bedroom attached suite with its own entry that can be used for guests. .

“An entertaining paradise, the property lives true to its namesake with stone walkways that frame a multitude of private outdoor space,” according to the listing.

Next to Stonewater (151 Highlands Drive) sits historic DL James House, also known as Seaward. Actor Brad Pitt bought that home for $40 million, another gem added to his real estate portfolio. Seaward was built in 1918 for Daniel Lewis James, a wealthy businessman.

Stonewater was first designed by John O’Shea, an impressionist artist who lived in the home with his friend, socialite and arts patron Elizabeth Bigelow.

“The DL James House (currently owned by actor Brad Pitt), and Stonewater are only a couple hundred yards apart,” listing agent Dillon Staples of Compass said in an email. “The home was used to entertain and host some of Bigelow and O’Shea’s friends, which included Carmel’s biggest and original developer, James Franklin Davendorf, and other artists that were pivotal in the establishment of Carmel as an artist town.”
