London Metropolitan Police have charged a 64-year-old man with violating the National Security Act due to his suspected links with Russia, the police announced on May 23.

According to the statement, the accused is Howard Michael Phillips. The charges are related to alleged connections with Russia.

“The country to which the charge relates is Russia,” the police said.

Phillips was detained on May 16 in central London. The BBC added that he is accused of working for a "foreign intelligence service" against the United Kingdom. Authorities have not disclosed details about his alleged activities.

In related news, on April 26, a 20-year-old UK national, Dylan Earl, was charged with organizing sabotage at industrial facilities connected with London’s aid to Ukraine.
