A man on a roof “throwing objects onto the track” has caused the suspension of the London Overground between Shepherd's Bush and Clapham Junction.

Southern trains between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction are also disrupted by the incident near Kensington Olympia, which hit Monday’s morning rush hour.The Met Police said a man on a roof close to the track threw a number of items onto it, which has caused lines to be blocked with disruption now expected to last all day.

“No trains are able to run between Shepherds Bush and Clapham Junction until further notice. This will affect Southern services between Watford Junction and East Croydon, with trains being cancelled or terminated short,” said National Rail.

“Please allow an extra 30 minutes to travel as you will have to use an alternative route. Check journey planners and station screens for the latest information,” it says.

Still part suspended

To confirm, the Overground is still part suspended with no service between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction.

District and Metropolitan part-suspended

Alongside the Overground being part-suspended due to a person throwing things onto the track, the District and Metropolitan Lines are also part-suspended.

There is no service on the District between Acton Town and Ealing Broadway due to a signal failure at Ealing Broadway.

The Metropolitan also has no service between Chalfont & Latimer and Chesham due to a signal failure.

Houses 'evacuated' over items being thrown from roof

Juliette Smith of Russell Garden Mews said she and her neighbours had been evacuated by the police, reports John Dunne.

Police have been on the scene since early this morning, with Overground trains unable to run due to a man throwing items onto the track from a nearby rooftop.

She told the Standard: “Some of the houses have been trashed. My neighbour has been in tears. The guy has been destroying roofs and skylights since 4am.

“The police are in my house they were thinking of going through the skylight to get him.he was shouting and throwing stuff.”

Local councillor Aarien Areti told the Standard: “The police are trying to negotiate but not successfully it seems.”

Another resident said: “They have to get him down, this is getting ridiculous.”

Firefighters and police remain on the scene.

Firefighters on scene of incident causing Overground disruption

The London Fire Brigade is on the scene of a man who was reported throwing items onto the track near Kensington Olympia.

The incident has disrupted Southern trains between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction as well as Overground services.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Firefighters are supporting colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service at an incident on Russell Garden Mews, Kensington.

"The Brigade was first called about the incident at 1019, and crews from Hammersmith and Paddington Fire Station are currently on scene."

Marylebone disruption to continue

Asked for further details about the police incident at Kensington Olympia, a Met spokesperson said: “Police were called at 04:21hrs to reports of a man on a roof in Russell Gardens Mews W14.

“He threw a number of items down onto nearby railway tracks.”

Disruption is now expected until 4pm, National Rail said.

Great Western Railway services hit by signalling fault

A passenger being taken ill on a train at Farringdon means some lines are blocked.

Northbound services are being delayed between London Blackfriars and London St Pancras International, due to reports of a passenger being taken ill on a train at Farringdon.

This has hit Thameslink services towards West Hampstead Thameslink, St Albans, Luton, Bedford, Welwyn Garden City, Cambridge and Peterborough.

Services may terminate and restart elsewhere, have cancelled stops, or be cancelled completely.
