Lukaszuk's Facebook post 'not appropriate,' Redford says
Alberta Premier Alison Redford said a recent Facebook posting by Deputy Premier Thomas Lukaszuk about a landslide in B.C.was inappropriate.
Earlier this week, Lukaszuk joked on his Facebook page about cheap hotel rooms being available in Fairmont Hot Springs B.C. following the landslide on Sunday that ended up trapping hundreds of campers.
No one was hurt in that slide, but another landslide in Johnsons Landing, B.C. on Thursday resulted in two confirmed deaths, with two people still missing.
Lukaszuk apologized after deleting the post, but Redford said on Thursday that she plans to follow-up with him.
"I was very disappointed in it," she said. "He is away this week. I intend to have a conversation with him about it.
"I take this very seriously. That was a tragedy. It was a tragedy involving loss of life. Even if it hadn't involved loss of life, it was still a tragedy. It is not appropriate and I think that his comments reflect the fact that he understands that."
Redford said that all politicians need to be careful about what they say.
