These lyrics in two new Taylor Swift songs are about Travis Kelce, her fans say

All that screaming and crying late Thursday night in Kansas City and points beyond came from fans of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce as they listened to her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

The album and song lyrics leaked on Wednesday, so many people knew there might be a song about her current boyfriend.

Many now believe Swift wrote two songs about the Chiefs tight end on her new albums.

Who else would this lyric reference: “You knew what you wanted, and boy, you got her.”

And yes, we said albums.

Swifties on TikTok including JoJo in KC, a longtime Swiftie and Chiefs fan, were ready to film themselves reacting to one of the leaked songs, “The Alchemy.”

These are the lyrics that have them all shook up.

“Shirts off, and your friends lift you up, over their heads

Beer stickin’ to the floor, cheers chanted ‘cause they said

”There was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league”

Where’s the trophy? He just comes, running over to me

(Chorus)

Touch down

Call the amateurs and cut ‘em from the team

Ditch the clowns, get the crown

Baby, I’m the one to be’

Cause the sign on your heart

Said it’s still reserved for me

Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?”

And then there was this line that sounds like an inside joke between the Kelce and Swift: “He jokes that ‘It’s heroin, but this time with an E’”

Of course fans don’t really know whether Kelce inspired the song. But it’s oh-so obvious to Traylor fans. Don’t even try to disagree.

After out-screaming the fellow Swifties listening with her, JoJo changed from her “TTPD” sweatshirt into a red Chiefs sweatshirt and made the small group “listen to it again,” she told her followers.

“I’m flying high … dead!” she exclaimed.

So were her followers who wrote in the livestream:

“No one thought Travis would make the cut!”

“The line that with shirts off, talking about Jason. I’m so dead. She loves this man.”

“This is the only happy song in the first album.”

Those were happy tears spilling all over TikTok.

The Tortured Poets Department,” was released at 11 p.m. on Thursday and by 7 a.m. on Friday seven songs were already on Apple’s top 10 list of Top 100 songs.

Nine more are among the Top 25, including “The Alchemy.”

Surprise! ‘TTPD’ is a double album

Swift shocked fans by dropping two “TTPD” albums. At 1 a.m. CT Friday, she released a 15-track digital anthology to “The Tortured Poets Department,” which had debuted two hours earlier with 16 tracks, including “The Alchemy.”

She wrapped the songs of heartache and loss in metaphors, Swift said in taped comments on iHeart Radio’s “Tortured Poets” channel.

Ever had a lover toss you to the side like a child’s once-favorite toy? She’s felt that way.

“The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album,” she wrote on Instagram Threads as the surprise digital version dropped in the wee hours.

“I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn’t mine anymore … it’s all yours.”

Swift shocked fans in February by announcing the name of the album and its April 19 release while winning the first of two Grammys for her fall 2002 album, “Midnights,” then posting cover art on Instagram.

A few days later she told her Eras Tour audience in Tokyo that she had been working on “’Tortured Poets’ since right after I turned in ‘Midnights.’ You turn in albums months in advance.”

She introduced “TTPD” on Instagram Thursday night as an “anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time — one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure.

“This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed.

“And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted.”

Grand Theft Auto?

We can’t be blamed for wondering whether Kelce is grateful he didn’t inspire both albums. Swifties will now spend days, weeks, poring over lyrics guessing who Swift is writing about.

The leaked lyrics proved accurate. Most of the songs appear to chronicle Swift’s six-year romance with British actor Joe Alwyn, while others clearly allude to her subsequent three-month fling with singer/songwriter Matty Healy, also British.

Fans seemed to prefer the lighter, bouncier feel of the second album. And that’s where Traylor fans heard what they believe is a second song about Kelce.

It’s called “So High School.”

Yeah, it screams of Kelce.

“I feel so high school every time I look at you

I wanna find you in a crowd just to hide from you

(Chorus)

And in a blink of a crinkling eye

I’m sinking, our fingers entwined

Cheeks pink in the twinkling lights

Tell me ‘bout the first time you saw me

I’ll drink what you think and I’m high

From smoking your jokes all damn night

The brink of a wrinkle in time

Been a sweet 16 suddenly

(Post-Chorus)

I’m watching American Pie with you on a Saturday night

Your friends are around, so be quiet

I’m trying to stifle my sighs

‘Cause I feel so high school every time I look at you, but look at you

Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba

(Verse 1)

Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me (Kill me)

It’s just a game, but really (Really)

I’m bettin’ on all three for us two (All three)

Get my car door, isn’t that sweet? (That sweet)

Then pull me to the backsеat (Backseat)

No one’s evеr had me (Had me), not like you

Truth, dare, spin bottles

You know how to ball, I know Aristotle

Brand new, full throttle

Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto

It’s true, swear, scouts honor

You knew what you wanted, and, boy, you got her

Brand new, full throttle

You already know, babe”

We can’t be blamed for wondering: Dude, “American Pie” on date night?
