Madonna just posted a topless photo on Instagram, but this pic is slightly different from the Queen of Pop’s usual. In it, the 61-year-old songstress is posing in what appears to be her bathroom, and she’s leaning on a crutch, a fact that Madge also refers to in the caption. "Everyone has a Crutch................ 🛠," she wrote.
It’s not totally clear what’s behind the crutch usage, but Madonna has struggled with a series of injuries this year.
Most recently in March, she shared on Instagram that she fell onstage and hurt her tailbone when a chair was pulled out underneath her by mistake. "I made it thru the show last night but just barely because I hate disappointing," she wrote at the time. "However today even I can see that this broken doll held together with tape and glue, needs to stay in bed and rest for a few days so she can finish the tour with a smile on her face and in one piece."
In January 2020, Madonna had to cancel a concert in London, although she didn’t get into specifics. "I am deeply sorry that I have to cancel my concert scheduled for Monday January 27th in London," Madonna wrote on Instagram at the time, next to a pic of herself clutching what appears to be a cane. "Under doctors guidance I have been told to rest for a few days. As you all know, I have injuries that have plagued me since the beginning of the tour but I must always listen to my body and put my health first."
She also had to cancel shows in Miami and Boston in late 2019 due to injuries, but it's unclear if these all are related.
Despite all that, Madonna is still doing exactly what she does best—staying true to herself, clothing optional.
