Man in 60s dead after being struck in downtown Toronto

A man in his sixties is dead after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Toronto.

Paramedics were called to the scene at Jarvis Street and Earl Place just before 7:40 p.m. Saturday.

That's where the man was found with "very serious" injuries, Deputy Commander Evert Steenge said.

He was rushed to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition but did not survive, police said.

Officers say the driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Jarvis Street is closed in all directions from Wellesley Street to Isabella Street as police investigate.
