A man in his 60s needed stitches to his face after being assaulted on a Tube during the morning rush-hour in central London.

British Transport Police (BTP) said a man “was barging past people” on the platform at Leicester Square Underground Station shortly after 8.30am on Tuesday, April 2.

He then boarded a Northern Line Tube heading towards Charing Cross, when he assaulted a man in his 60s who had also boarded the train at Leicester Square.

The victim was knocked to the floor in the assault, and had to go to hospital to get stitches to his face.

BTP on Wednesday released an image of a man they are trying to trace, who they say “may have information that could help their investigation”.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference number 167 of 2 April.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
