Man, 43, arrested after woman found dead inside Scarborough townhouse
A 43-year-old man is in custody after a woman was found dead inside a Scarborough home early Thursday, Toronto police say.
Officers went to the townhouse complex in the area of Kingston and Scarborough Golf Club roads around 4 a.m. after the man called 911 to report he had hurt someone inside the residence, according to Insp. Jeff Banglid.
When they arrived, the man was outside waiting for them, Banglid added. The officers then went into the townhouse and found the woman dead.
"We don't know what, if any, weapons were used. But obviously the force that was inflicted upon her was enough to cause her death," he told reporters at the scene.
Banglid did not identify the woman because investigators have not yet spoken with her next of kin.
The victim lived at the townhouse and the pair were known to each other, Banglid said, but police are still trying to piece together the exact nature of their relationship.
The man hasn't been charged but will remain in police custody as Toronto police's homicide unit carries out its initial investigation, he said.
