Teen now in stable condition after being hit by vehicle on Bank Street

A 16-year-old boy is now in stable condition after he was struck by a vehicle and critically injured on Bank Street near Hunt Club Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The collision happened Wednesday at 12:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Bank Street at Dazé Street, near Hunt Club Road.

The teen was unconscious when paramedics arrived and was suffering from life-threatening head injuries, according to paramedic spokesman J.P. Trottier.

He had been thrown several metres by the force of the crash, Trottier said.

The teen was taken to The Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus trauma unit, where he was listed in critical condition.

Both lanes of Bank Street from Dazé/Cahill Drive to Johnston Road were closed Wednesday for much of the afternoon. Police reopened all but one northbound lane to traffic in the evening.

On Thursday, police said the boy was still in hospital and that his condition had improved to stable.
