Man dead after Sunday morning shooting at southeast Calgary restaurant

Calgary police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Sunday morning in the southeast neighbourhood of Radisson Heights.

Around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the Ambassador Restaurant and Bar at 3504 17th Avenue S.E. for reports of gunshots, the Calgary Police Service (CPS) said in a statement.

According to CPS, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and they began "life-saving measures." However, police said the man died on the scene.

"We're currently investigating [it] as a suspicious death," acting Staff Sgt. Chris Warren told CBC News.

CPS said witnesses told them they heard gunshots and then saw a man flee the area.

Police said the suspect is described as an approximately 30-year-old male, six feet two inches tall, with a medium build and short black hair.

Investigators remain on the scene talking to witnesses and searching through security camera footage.
