Man’s early birthday present is a life-changing lottery prize. ‘I just kind of froze’

When it comes to luck, Emanuel Sieber told lottery officials he usually leaves it to his fiance — until one day he played the Virginia lottery and got a life-changing win.

Sieber, who lives in Heathsville, played the Cash4Life game and scored the top prize of $1,000 a day for life, lottery officials said in a March 31 news release.

The cherry on top? It was the day before his birthday, he told lottery officials.

“I was in shock,” he told lottery officials about his win. “I just kind of froze for a second.”

Sieber’s prize was the largest ever won online in the state, according to the release. The odds he would win the prize were 1 in 21.8 million.

Sieber said he has no plans yet for his winnings other than to pay bills.

Heathsville is about 70 miles northeast of Richmond.
