Man who fled scene of wreck fired at multiple vehicles uptown, CMPD says

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers are searching for a man they allege shot at vehicles Tuesday night in uptown.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near the 1100 block of Harrill Street, as well as another call shortly after about an assault with a deadly weapon at 7th Street and North Caldwell Street not far from First Ward Park.

The department said officers believe the two incidents are connected.

Witnesses told officers they heard gunshots shortly after a wreck, and then saw a man get out of from his vehicle and run away, CMPD said.

Officers found two vehicles with “multiple bullet holes” on the exterior, one of which was involved in the wreck. The other had 14 bullet holes in the windshield. Police recovered two guns from the scene.
