Man shot and killed during altercation in Merced, police say

Authorities are investigating after a man was shot and killed Monday night in Merced.

At about 8 p.m., authorities received numerous calls regarding a shooting in the 1700 block of Conestoga Drive, according to the Merced Police Department. Authorities said it appears there was an altercation between at least two people before shots were fired.

A 36-year-old man was shot and died of his injuries, according to police. Detectives canvased the area Monday looking for any witnesses and possible video surveillance.
