3 people dead in 2-vehicle crash south of Caledonia, OPP says

Man in critical condition after industrial accident near Yonge-Dundas square

Three people were killed Wednesday night in a two-vehicle collision south of Caledonia on Highway 6, Ontario Provincial Police say.

OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk said the accident happened between 4th Line and 5th Line shortly after 9:00 p.m. He said one vehicle was travelling southbound on Highway 6 and the other was travelling northbound when they collided. One of the vehicles rolled over after the crash, he said.

The dead have not been publicly identified as next of kin have yet to be notified, Sanchuk told reporters.

Ornge Air Ambulance said they heard as many as six people under the age of 18 were involved, but the number of injuries has not been confirmed.

The ambulance service says it got the call at 9:40 p.m. and was waiting at a hospital in nearby Hagersville to transport a patient to a trauma centre. But Ornge says it did not end up transporting anybody.

Sanchuk told reporters that the Highway 6 will be closed between 4th Line and 5th Line for at least eight hours.

Police are advising people to avoid the area.
