Market place makeover will protect key monuments
Plans to repair sections of a Lincolnshire market place and safeguard two listed monuments have been approved by councillors.
Wainfleet All Saints Market Place is in need of resurfacing because of potholes and loose debris, the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) has said.
A one-metre boundary will be placed around the listed Victorian Clock Tower and the Butter Cross, which is a scheduled ancient monument.
Like-for-like materials will be used and planning officers at East Lindsey District Council said the work would have a “positive impact” on the area.
Wainfleet Town Council secured funding for the repairs from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
An investment pot worth nearly £2m was announced by the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership at the beginning of this year.
