Mayor of largest city in Kyiv Oblast joins Armed Forces
Hennadii Dykyi, mayor of Bila Tserkva, Kyiv Oblast, announced that he has decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine on his Facebook on March 30.
Dykyi noted that he has a military rank and specialty as an air defense officer, so he decided to defend Ukraine along with hundreds of thousands of fellow citizens.
"I love our Bila Tserkva community very much, and I love our country, Ukraine," he said.
The mayor added that Bila Tserkva is in a strong position: business is developing, new jobs are being created, and the infrastructure is prepared for any possible enemy attacks.
"City counsil is working together as a single unit," he summarized.
"I ask you to preserve this unity and work for the benefit of the community in the future."
What is known about Hennadii Dykyi
Dykyi was elected mayor of Bila Tserkva in 2015, with 60.7% of the votes in the second round. He ran for office with the support of the Samopomich party.
In October 2020, he was elected mayor once again from the For the Future political party.

Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi awarded Dykyi with a badge For assistance to the Army on Dec. 12.
According to Dykyi, during past year, his community provided half a billion hryvnias ($12.7 million) in assistance to the Armed Forces. These funds were allocated to the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, the 1129th Bilotserkivskiy Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment and other military units.

In fall of 2022, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served Dykyi with a notice of suspicion in a real estate fraud case, he denied all claims.
